Personal philosophy : Everyone needs an effective and personal estate plan including at a minimum a Will, as well as a Durable Power of Attorney, and an Advance Medical Directive or Living Will. These documents permit you to set forth your personal directions and plans for the future. Everyone should have a good lawyer who they can trust and who will charge them a fair and reasonable fee for these legal services.
It is important for everyone to have all his or her emergency information in one place and that it be available in the event of an emergency. I recommend individuals fill out this Emergency Information Sheet and ask a trusted relative or friend to keep it. Then, in the event of an emergency, someone will know where to find or how to get the important documents and information. This list is not exhaustive, one may want to include additional information.
